The church and the street: Copts and interest representation from Mubarak to Sisi

This article analyzes the relationship of the Coptic community with the Egyptian regimes from Mubarak, Morsi and Sisi. The author focuses on the factors which led the Copts to join the mass demonstrations during the Arab uprisingsm, as well as the desenchantment following the rise of the Muslim Brotherood to power and the eventual support to the military regime of Sisi. As such, emphasis is attributed to the various incidents which occured during this time period as well as the return of the special relationship between the Coptic Church and the Egyptian state.
