The author attempts first to articulte the diversity with the Coptic community of Egypt and second to view it through the prism of sainthood, symbolism and iconography with regards to their relationship with the Egyptian state. As such the book is divided into three sections which examine icons, relics and apparitions. The book's objective is to to focus on how popular saints are utilized and regulated by the popular media in order to tackle social relations between Muslim-Christian relations in Egypt.
