The article examines the developments on the dialogue efforts between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Churches, i.e. the Assyrian Church of the East, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, and the Eastern Orthodox Church, though most of the article is focused on the dialogue between the Vatican and the Eastern Orthodox Church. It emphasized that the relations between the Assyrian and the Chaldean church, triggered by the rapprochement of the Vatican and the Assyrian church, could work as a model of relations between Eastern Catholic and Orthodox churches. It concludes that while the dialogues might move slowly, it is important to note that it is a dialogue between churches, aiming at restoring the long-lost full communion.
