This article briefly addresses the situation of Christians in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, Iraq and Egypt. The resilience and continuity of Christianity, despite occasional periods of persecution, is tested in the last two decades, as the Islamist fundamentalists gain momentum. Christians are often regarded as sided in the wrong side of the argument, for example supporting authoritarian regimes, thus facing attacks, abductions and sometimes even murders. It argues that their depleted numbers is diminishing their impact in society, however the systematic targeting by Islamists as well as the Western indifference is forcing the majority to emigrate.
