This article attempts to reconcile between the emancipatory ethics of human rights and the humanitarian traditions of the theological understanding in both Christianity and Islam. The author examines the contribution of international human rights in inter-religious dialogue and deconstructs the complexity in the theological and secular understanding of human rights. The article presents that such a reconciliation is not only conceivable but also a reality.
