This article examines the Muslim-Christian relationship in Egypt throughout the twentieth century. It attempts to juxtapose the fact that Copts are equal citizens with the general consensus that they are also a minority in Egypt. The article aims to put into perspective both the rise of Egyptian nationalism, as well as the rise of Islamic movements in Egypt, both in Egyptian politics in general, as well as it pertains to the Coptic community.
