This article focuses on the Chaldo-Assyrian ethnic minority in Iraq, giving a historical background, presenting demography, and pointing out group locations, mainly in Nineveh Province. It proposes a possible solution to the issue by suggesting autonomy for the group as crucial to its security and survival, while also presenting a counter-argument for autonomy. Finally, the author discusses the attitude of the Arabs and the Kurds, and assesses if autonomy is a realistic approach.
